Why I’m Proud of my Country

Authors note: I wrote this to tell you the reason why I am proud of my country.

Are you proud of your country? Well I am of my country. The United States of America started from scratch. Since then our country has survived and thrived for hundreds of years. Over coming bad economies, terrorist attacks from other countries and wars that almost tore America apart. The thing that makes America strong is our ability to move forward. When the great depression was taking Americans jobs, homes, and businesses what did we do? We pulled out of it and made more jobs bought more things and became in a better economic state.

As one country we have the freest country in the world. Of course we still have laws but we have freedom of speech and many other laws that give us rights that we deserve. A lot of countries don’t offer that. Our government is one of the best in the world with a president and many other officials that decide what is right for our country. Even though sometimes they are totally wrong and it ends up backfiring on us. But we always find a way to make it work.

Our achievements are great America as has the best military in the world with Naval commanders and Special Op teams. Along with that I believe we have the strongest will power of any country. After 9/11 we were shocked but we said our goodbyes and always will remember the victims in our hearts. Then what did we do after that? We went in Afghanistan to show the terrorist that this doesn’t fly by with the US. What do you know in a few years we found the man responsible and shot him in the face. I would like to see another country do that.

As Americans we give others that live in this great country a chance to worship any God or object of their choosing. The US is one of the few countries that allow freedom of religion. Many other countries have religion restrictions. But we don’t.

These are the reasons why I am proud of my country. Not because country music was invented here or that or national pastime is baseball. It’s that we have a strong Army, government, and some of the best people living here. America is a Nation that is United with the world.

My Hamster

Authors note:  I wrote about my hamster because he seemed like an intersesting topic to write about. Many people seemed shocked when they ask if I have a pet.

I have a hamster named Sam. His name used to be Gyro but I decided that was not a good name for a hamster. He also looked like a Sam to me so I named him that. I mean really why would some name a hamster Gyro?

Sam’s fur is white, brown, and he has a gray line across his back. He is a Teddy Bear hamster so he is very big unlike a dwarf hamster. He doesn’t fit in many of the hamster stuff you see at Wal-Mart or PetCo. He is not fat though I can assure you that. He also looks nothing like a rat. He looks more like a miniature Guiney pig.

My hamster has a daily routine eat, sleep, and poop. But at night (since hamsters are dormant) He gets up takes a drink and eats some food. Then he runs on his wheel for about six hours. I don’t get much time to do anything with him. Because in the day he is a sleep and at night I am asleep. I try to catch him in the middle of night and day but he is still sleeping. I could wake up in the middle of the night to play with him but I need my sleep. I could wake him but he just looks like he is not in the mood. If I would wake him he would freak out and run around the cage. But he would not bite. Unless of course you are trying to grab his head. That’s a bad idea all together. Even though he bit my sister’s friend who partially throws her gerbil across the room. So I’m glad that happened it will hopefully teach that girl not to go in my room and grabbing animal’s when there a sleep is a terrible idea. Unless you’re trying to get bit.

Sam lives in hamster paradise. He has three floors that he can sleep or eat on. He has a big wheel in the side of his cage. He also has a water bottle to drink from. But the best thing in his cage is that he has a hammock to sleep in. Even though he would rather sleep in his food dish.

I have Sam roll around in his ball for about 15 minutes each day. He is really fast compared to my sisters hamster Cocoa. Ever since school started along with sports and after school activities I don’t get a lot of time to do stuff with him.

Overall I think that Sam is happy about where he lives. One more thing I forgot to mention. Sam has a 22 inch LCD TV to watch Animal Planet and watch me play PS3. So he is pretty spoiled. Even though he is not a dog or a cat he still gives me something to think about.
